Draco had made it through the center of the continent safety and was now in his southern lands. He usually didn't spend much time here, most of his efforts were in the north because that was where most of the action happened. Probably because some cats didn't even know that he owned this, unless of course they were Donec or Vectus. Most strays weren't aware that this land was occupied by himself. Meaning, he would need to kick out anyone who was here when they weren't supposed to be here. He hoped that this was where his members had gone. Maybe they had just traveled to southern lands? He doubted it but, it wasn't impossible. Any glimpse of hope that was possible, he had to take it. The chances of him keeping this land without a pride was very unlikely. He was a skilled fighter but, he couldn't take on a whole pride by himself and no stray in their right mind would try.
The grass here was short and spiky and it pricked at Draco's paw pads. It was irritating and it was hot, even at night. There were night birds squawking and there were a few hippos around, grazing. He wasn't exactly sure where they came from though. But, he wasn't out here hunting. He had just spent the whole day doing more boarder patrol. Oh how he hated it. It was long boring hours of pacing back and forth, back and forth, spraying scent everywhere. It was a tedious, boring task but, it could only be done by himself.
It was dark outside, pitch black to be exact. The only forms of light were the little lighting bugs floating around. Draco remembered catching those in his mouth as a cub. How fun that was. Chasing and running and catching without all of this nonsense. The only thing giving him away was the crunch of the grass under his paws. His dark coat hid him well.
Soon, he actually found a lonely tree to lay under. The grass was irritating his paws and he didn't want to walk on it anymore, besides he had just walked for over 12 hours. It was time for a break. He sprawled out under it and rested for a bit. He was wide awake and didn't plan on sleeping but, a good rest sounded good.
He scanned the area, checking for hyenas. Those filthy creatures lurked around in these parts and it wasn't unlike them to terrorize the king. He heard something move behind him. He roared loudly, not carting who he disturbed or what he had scared. He would kill it if it was a hyena. But, it wasn't. It was only an impala that he scared away. It was now running and jumping away rapidly. Not that he was going to chase it on this awful ground. He saw cheetah's do it all the time and he couldn't understand how they did it. Oh well. It didn't matter. He kept scanning the area.

Arielle heard the roar, and instantly hit the ground. She landed right on a patch of dry grass. It was tickling her stomach. But to more important matters, this was her home, why was someone here, but who was it? She listened to the roar as she tracked where it's owner was. She found it.. wait no its a male lion. What was he doing here! He seemed very irritated, to say the least. Her gears started turning going into over drive. She knew she might have to put up a fight for her home land, but could she win?
With all of her thoughts circling around in her head she had made a decision. As she silently crouched over to him, and waited for the right moment, she saw the rabbit scurrying away as fast as its little legs could carry him. She laughed silently, knowing that the roar was used to scare off a rabbit! She got to a close enough distance where if need be she could still run away, but she was still at close range. She slowly stood up as she stretched acting as if she had just woken up from a nap. The sun was beating down on her back. but it wasn't to hot nor to cold. It never was cold here, just hot, overly hot. Today was the perfect day for a nice long nap.
She stared at the male lion and called to him, "Hey Mister, what are you doing here, this is my home?" as she waited for his response she walked over to him, never taking her eyes off of him. She was like her parents stalking the prey before the attack....

He spotted another moving thing. But, this time he wasn't going to make a ruckus untill he knew what it was. It was a lioness?? In his pride lands? She was not of his pride. How dare she prance in here and pretend that she owned the place?! Draco growled low in his throat and stood up to show his dominance here. It was still dark out but, he could see her just fine. Cats had excellent night vision. She started walking over to him. This made him more enraged. These lands were NOT for random strays to do as they pleased. It became obviously clear to him that he needed to spend more time down here if this lioness thinks that she owns it. I should be asking you the same question, lioness. These lands belong to me and the Vectus pride. His body language reaked of dominance and anger. This had been twice now that he had stray lions coming into his lands but, this one must have been here for a while. She would only have two choices if she wanted to live. It was either leave, or join. There would be no lions in the Vectus pride lands that were not Vectus.
He was not going to go over by her. If she wanted to speak with him more closely, she would have to do it herself. He was obviously the one in charge here, in his mind anyway, so he shouldn't have to do anything. Of course he was not thinking that any of this could be his fault. He was the one that hadn't sprayed the boarders around here well enough or often enough but, in his mind, it was still her fault.
With new and fresh scent lay down around the boarders, this shouldn't be much of a problem any more. Or at least he hoped not. He hoped that she would leave quickly after learning that this land indeed had an owner so things wouldn't need to get violent. But, he was up for anything. The night time was the perfect time for a fight. It was dark and he was wide awake.

The Vectus pride.... Oh no she thought. But there was no indication that it was. No scent, at least that scent was lingering. She paused when he spoke, clearly enraged. Perfect, now she could worm herself into his life and take over his pride.
Wait, whats that smell? Hyenas? Yes! Oh no, that's not good. She sniffed again and was able to determine that they were just passing by. Good. She turned her attention back to the male lion. Ha he was from the Vectus pride, but what rank? She had never been a part of a pride. Well not one that she could remember. She knew of the Donec pride, who were stuck up and snobby, but she had never met anyone from the Vectus pride.
'There was no scent. Sorry for the problem. By the way my name is Arielle." She said she turned to walk away but then decided to go to her favorite spot, the big tree. But one problem, it was behind the male lion.
As she walked around the male lion, giving them a little extra distance in between, she picked up speed. Arie was not tired so this was easy for her. The grass stung her paws but nothing she wasn't used too. She could see the tree just ahead of her. What will the lion do, she wondered...

The smell of hyenas entered Draco's nostrils. He rolled his eyes. How he hated hyenas. They were the vain of his existence. If only Leeu would just wipe them off the face of the planet, that would be wonderful. They did nothing but steal scraps and terrorize lions. Luckily for them, they were only passing by. If they hadn't been, this would have been the wrong time to bother him. He had now two strange lionesses in his pride lands and was not happy about it. He didn't understand what posses lions to walk into a pride's land and just stay there and set up camp. The center on the continent was completely open to anyone. Of course, the center wasn't very big but, it was big enough to sustain life. The prides had taken most of the land but, there were still lands open. If lions didn't want to love in the center then, they needed to join a pride. Not mooch off of another's land.
She went on and told him that his scent markers weren't strong enough. Well, they are now. He thought to himself. This lioness had a lot of guts speaking to him the way that she did. She spoke as if they were on the same level. She had no right to be speaking to him like that. She gave him her name. A mistake. Now he could find her again if he wanted to. He debated giving her his name. Obviously she didn't know who he was. Maybe giving her his name would jog her memory. Draco. He wasn't going to fool with polite introductions. He was not a polite lion.
She turned to walk away but, then changed her mind. Like she had a choice. She walked around him and climbed the tree. He had never seen any lion in a tree before. Usually only leopards could get into trees. Cheetah's were too thin, they had no muscle but, lions were too heavy. He wondered how she did it. Well, he wasn't going to stand under her so she could attack him on the back. He moved a few feet away and turned to face her. He thought that it was a bit funny that she thought that the tree was hers. It was not. It was his. He waited to see if the branch would break under her weight. She didn't look like a thing spindly female. She looked well built. Certainly the branch couldn't hold her long. Do you enjoy falling from trees? He mocked her. He didn't know for sure if it would fall but, he thought that it would. Like he thought before, only leopards could get into trees. He almost asked her how she got into trees but, he wouldn't do that. He didn't care. He for sure couldn't get into a tree. He was too heavy.

When he said Draco, she noted that and kept it in mind. Her muscles tensed as she launched herself up the tree using only her claws to support her. This was a skill she had learned over time. it was very useful, now she could see why cheetahs climbed trees. The lion was obviously curious about her skill.
"I have done this many times, thank you very much. I stay in the center never on one branch alone. I know that a branch can break with me on it. I'm not dumb" she snapped back at him.
She rested her head on her paws, yawning loud enough to where he could hear her. Of course how could she be tired, she was with a male lion for crying out loud. Unintentionally she lifted her tail and let out the signal saying she was in heat. Oh no, this is bad she thought. Was she right? She tried to act like nothing happened all the while trying to make sure that the lion didn't notice. If he did he was not showing it.

Arielle, seeming to read his mind, told him about her skill. Well, that was two birds with one stone. He didn't need to ask and he still got the answer that he wanted. It was a win win. She also said that she wasn't dumb. I never said you were dumb, you came up with that by yourself. He was just being a jerk now. He wasn't really in the mood for this trivial argument and he didn't care how immature he sounded. This was his land, he could do as he pleased.
Something inside of him wanted to get her out of here as fast as he could but, he couldn't reach her. She was in the tree. Granted, the tree wasn't very steep but, he still didn't want to go up there. He guessed that he could try and break the tree but, that was one of the only trees around in this area. Here it was mostly grass, not much shade or anything. So, the tree would live. He still didn't really want her here.
He noticed that she lifted her tail, showing she was in heat, he took notice of it but, not much. He could smell that she wasn't lying but, it made him question why she had come here in the first place. Perhaps she came looking for a mate? He became very suspicious of her. Perhaps she was trying to manipulate him. Well, he was not allowing that to happen. He was not letting some stray lioness prance into his lands and then manipulate him into whatever her reasons were to coming here. He chuckled a little and shook his head at her. She wasn't gonna get him that fast. Though, his animal instinct screamed at him to stay and spread his genes, his brain knew better. He was not a very old lion but, he had been around once or twice before and he knew that mating with this female while she was not a part of his pride, could and would lead to trouble for him in the future. He decided to avoid the whole problem in the first place. He started jogging away from the tree. He didn't see it as defeat, he saw it as a break. He would be back later. He didn't know if she was going to follow him or not but if she did, it would tell him more about her plan. That, was what he really wanted. He knew that asking her wasn't going to help him so, he would need to do it the sneaky way, his way. He kept his ears pricked to see what she was going to do. He was certain that he could take her in a fight if she decided to attack him from the ground. He was much bigger than her.

She saw the quiver of his nose as he recognized that she was in heat. She now knew that he didn't really care. Good she though. But his words aggravated Arielle, how mature Arielle thought. She let it go though. Draco decided to leave. And Arielle let him. If he wanted her off of his land, or with him he could come back for her. Yet she was comfortable exactly where she was, and she saw no need to move after him. Now she really wasn't in the mood for a fight.
As she watched his shape grow smaller and smaller, she started to groom herself. Licking her paws and body, all while staying in the tree. The tree was like her sanctuary and every animal around here knew that. She never wanted to leave this tree but she would if she had too. After she finished grooming herself Arielle caught herself thinking about how it would be to be living with Draco. He didn't seem that bad of a lion. Maybe she should have followed him.
Next thing she new the sun was hitting her face, telling her it was time to wake up. Grudgingly, she shook herself and jumped off the tree. Landing ever so gracefully. What should I do now, Arie thought.
